Yarns are 1oz 28 grams lace weight and 217.41 yards per ball.

The size of the needles/crochet and gauge really depend on the pattern. We have projects that use size US 00 all the way to size US 7, the size most common is US 5 or 3.75mm.

Luxury Blend: Qiviut, Merino and Silk Yarn

You deserve to treat yourself to a special accessory to enjoy for years. A cloud-like softness unlike any other yarn in your yarn stash.

Qiviut comes from the fine undercoat of the Muskox. A natural fiber that is one of the warmest and most luxurious fibers in the world.

Blend of 45% qiviut – 45% merino - 10% silk.

Unique characteristics of Qiviut include:

  • 8 times warmer than wool
  • Finer than Cashmere: Some even say it makes cashmere feel rough in comparison
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Hollow Fibers: That's why it's sooo light!
  • Lacks Lanolin/ Scales: This means no itchy, scratchy irritation on your skin when you wear it
  • Water repellent
  • 11-14 microns

  • Qiviut is not just wonderful to wear, it is a dream to work with during the entire knitting process.

“If you love to knit, this is one of the most special investments you can make in yarn or a project. Very much worth the splurge!”

    First timer

I’ve been wanting to use this yarn for several years now. It made the perfect lightweight, but warm, cowl for my son who lives in northern Washington state. He loves it. Soft, warm, and looks so good on him.

When I opened the package, I was surprised how thin was the yarn! I didn't expect that, I was purchased first time! The yarn was so soft and beautiful, but so thin and delicate. I never did any project with such of this yarn.
    I bought also 2 patterns.
I start with metal needles, exactly the same number as recommended. But the loops was slipped off the needles. So, I switched them for bamboo, and it was perfect!
Pattern... probably it was good, but my primary language is russian, and it was so hard to understand it. So, I switched to russian language, used YouTube, found some simple lace pattern and made nice scarf! After wearing it for about 2 days ( we have a snow days in Florida this year) , the scarf became narrower and longer. Maybe next time I need to make the scarf more wider ( I made 36 loops as recommended the pattern).

    Beautiful Yarn and Service

I bought two balls of luxury blend as a Christmas present for my wife. Unfortunately only one of the desired color was in stock. I sent an email explaining my problem, and Giovanna was able to find another ball for me. My wife loves the yarn and can’t wait to start using it. Thanks for a great gift!!

    Luxury yarns

I have submitted a previous 5 star review but didn’t include a comment. I worked the Moose scarf pattern in Qiviuk and cannot speak highly enough of the amazing quality of that yarn. I also just cast on the Bison Lace Scarf with Vicuña. I am so excited to feel the luxury of this yarn around my neck. The quality of yarns from Windy Valley Muskox cannot be matched. No regrets for any purchase!!

Muskox shed their under-wool fiber naturally each spring, which is then hand-collected from either the tundra, bushes, or branches. We work with locals in Northern communities to gather the fiber.

We get this precious Muskox resource with a clear commitment to social and environmental responsibility.

Also, it is important to mention that we purchase the yarns directly from the source, like Vicuna from Peru, Guanaco from Argentina, Qiviut from the Arctic
